I'm tired of just making custom munnies, and I'm looking to get into doing some resin/vinyl stuff. I think the most comfortable route for me would be monster clay, then a mold. How do you cast your stuff? Do you contract someone, or do it on your own? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. P.S. Your Negora stuff makes me want to start collecting sofubi!
sorry for the late reply ;-P I don’t check Tumblr … yes you should make your own stuff. Actually I don’t make resin really, so I’m sure there are other guys out there who could help you .. check out the Monster Kolor forum as well for help in getting started or finding someone to cast them for you. And yes you should collect sofubi ;-)
Hey Mark! I've been lurking for a long time now, and I've come up with a few questions I was hoping you'd be able to help shed some light on given your expertise. There're a bit lengthy so feel free to disregard any or all of them. First, I was wondering if you copy-write your toy designs. Second, I've been considering picking up monsterkolor for my airbrush, but I unsure of how much coverage I'd get out of any given bottle - Would you have an estimate on this? Thanks for your time with this!
I usually do not copyright them as once you create them you are protected to a certain extent, but of late I have been officially copyrighting them with the US copyright office. Monster Kolor MK, well thats a tough one .. a small bootle will last maybe 3-4 9-10 inch size toys ?? Maybe more .. really depends on how much your covering them … and mostly you’d be spraying them in small patches, is my guess … anyways it’s worth trying out, I think.
your coloring on your work is absolutely GORGEOUS! i love it!!! i only recently discovered these vinyl monster/creature toys and my favorite is the 'kaiju negora' style i think? the monster cats and shiba inu dog iv seen a few times, i hope i dont sound tupid haha! im new to this! but your work is so nice and you make it look so easy so i think i might give it a try myself eventually! thank you so much for being so great haha!
sorry for the late reply I never check here ;-P but thanks and yes you should try painting them .. it’s fun and frustrating at the same time ;-)
